The Quiet Jakarta
Easy Talk Tagged Jakarta No Comments »Today this morning I walked to the campus, crossing the crowded bridge and busy traffic. It was only 8 AM and everyone seemed so in hurry (late for work maybe). It was just an ordinary busy day.
It came accros my mind that a few weeks ago it wasn’t as noisy and busy as today. It was when Lebaran, where mostly the Jakartans went back to their hometowns and celebrating. I missed the quiet Jakarta for a while.
These pictures were taken on Friday, October 3, at 16.00. The picture says everything, right? The street was “in peace”; no horn honking, less pollution. The bridge was empty; no beggers, no merchantmen. It was like I
could breathe deeply. I slowly walked on the bridge, enjoying the most precious view around me. Usually, on a busy day, I just can’t do it. I have to walk fast and pay attention for my belongings. Let alone taking out my camera and capturing some photos. You know how Jakarta is, right?
I would love to have a drive around Jakarta during that time. I am planning on doing that for sure. I mean it’s rare to see the quiet Jakarta and also to have a peaceful and smooth drive around the city.
